Born Sept. 26, 1947 in Grand Forks, N.D. of Norwegian descent, Lynn Anderson was a pioneer in carrying country music to new horizons through her innovation and musical talent. Her regular exposure on national TV in the 1970s made her one of the most popular and successful female singer of that time.

Anderson debuted in 1966, at the age of 19, and has gone on to win a Grammy Award, named twice as “Top Female Vocalist” by the ACMs, “Female Vocalist of the Year” by CMAs, and charted 11 No. 1, 18 Top-10 and more than 50 Top-40 hits. In 1974, Anderson became the first female country artist to win an American Music Award and also headline and sellout Madison Square Garden that same year.
