The Western Senators

Founded in Calgary in 1976, the Western Senators continue performing and promoting Cleveland style polka music across Canada and in the United States as they approach their 31st anniversary.
The group boasts 12 albums, with five currently available, including their recently released “PolkaRama, Volume Three…PolkaMania!!”
The Senators have been featured in two made for TV movies…1995’s Frankie and Walter, One More Time…with America’s Polka King, Frankie Yankovic, and Canada’s Grammy winning Polka King, Walter Ostanek…as well as 2006’s “Cult of Walt” which has been broadcast three times on the Bravo Television Channel.
Other achievements include their own television series, PolkaRama, along with Ostanek, which has been running in numerous markets since 2002, and is available in VHS and DVD format. The Senators have recently completed 13 new PolkaRama shows, due for release in the fall of 2007 on the Access Television Network and other syndicated venues in Canada, the US and Europe.
The Western Senators have been featured in main showrooms at casinos in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta, as well as the National Slovenian Style Polka Music Awards in Cleveland in 2005 and the Kimberley International Accordion Festival in 2007.
Band members include two originals…Brian Sklar (keys and fiddle), and Joe Schultz (accordion), and Mark Leik (accordion and organ), Aaron Sklar (drums), Wayne Kuntz (bass), and Todd Lueck (guitar and banjo).
