Kristi Goldade
Kristi Goldade
Wed, Sept 29 - Sat, Oct 2, 2 shows daily

Her interest in country music began at the tender age of three, when she started memorizing the lyrics of country songs. When she was eight, the family took a vacation to Medora and Kristie heard yodeling for the first time. She was hooked and knew she wanted to learn how to yodel. Determined to learn, she practiced while feeding calves on the family's dairy farm. Now she is one of the performers at Medora, having entertained there for the past four summers.

Kristi, the sixth child born to Michael and Geraldine Goldade, lives on a dairy farm on the Emmons and McIntosh county line. She practices her yodeling every morning and evening while feeding calves, and it is very important to her that yodeling does not become a lost art.

Seasoned performer

Yodeling is not Kristi's only talent. She also performs country songs with her guitar. In 2008 she became the winner of the South Dakota Country Showdown contest, at 14 the competition's youngest winner to date.

At the age of 11, she recorded her first CD, "North Dakota's Yodeling Cowgirl." Last summer she recorded another CD, "Dakota Prairie Yodelin'."

She has performed at the State Dakota State Fair for the last four years and the Midwest Country Theater in Sandstone, Minn. Her first visit to Music in the Park was last year.
