The Western Senators


Canada's Grammy-nominated polka band, the Western Senators was founded in Calgary in 1976. Since then, the group has been performing and promoting Cleveland style polka music across Canada and in the United States.


The group boasts a total 21 albums and 26 DVDs.


The Western Senators have been featured in two made for TV movies, 1995's award winning Frankie and Walter, One More Time with America's Polka King, Frankie Yankovic, and Canada's Grammy winning Polka King, Walter Ostanek, as well as 2006's Cult of Walt which has been broadcast numerous times on the Bravo Television Channel.


Other achievements include their television series, PolkaRama, along with Ostanek, which has been running in markets across Canada since 2002, and is available by mail order and at personal appearance dates in DVD format.


The Western Senators are regularly featured in main showrooms at casinos in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta, and have been featured at the National Slovenian Style Polka Music Awards in Cleveland and the Kimberley International Accordion Festival. Band members include one original, Brian Sklar (keys and fiddle), plus Alberta's Polka King, 24 year-old Jordan Rody (accordion and organ), Tom Reinhardt (accordion and organ), Aaron Sklar (drums), Wayne Kuntz (bass), and Todd Lueck (guitar and banjo).
