Addy Hiltner is a 12 year old fiddler/violinist who plays well beyond her years. She is from Newark, Ohio and has been playing the fiddle since she was six years old.
Addyʼs had the privilege to be under the tutelage of Dr. Andy Carlson at Denison University for the past 4 1/2 years. Andy has provided a balance between her classical training and fiddling. Addy participated in Newark Granville Chamber Strings as co-concertmaster and is presently a member of the Newark Granville Youth Symphony.
Addy is in the 7th grade “at home” as she puts it. Being homeschooled has allowed her the opportunity to jam with bluegrass musicians in the community.
She has competed and finished first or second for the past 5 years in the Dan Emmett Fiddle Contest. In August 2014, she was the youngest fiddler in the 12-19 year old division and claimed first place. She has achieved second place in The Ohio State Fiddle Contest for the past four years.
At her young age, Addy has had the privilege of taking lessons from some prominent fiddlers: Byron Berline, Andrea Zonn (James Taylor Band), Tammy Rogers (SteelDrivers), Kimber Ludiker (Della Mae) and Matt Combs (staff fiddler Grand OleOpry). She also had the opportunity to record at Compass Records with Alison Brown as part of her fiddle camp.
