Norsk Høstfest is excited to introduce the Friends of Chester Giving Program to the 2024 festival. This initiative, inspired by Chester (Chet) Reiten’s vision, aims to preserve our beloved tradition, ensuring that upcoming generations can continue to experience the joy and cultural richness of Norsk Høstfest.
Who was Chester M. Reiten?
Chester Reiten, a proud son of Hastings, ND, carried the spirit of his Norwegian-American heritage in every endeavor. His heart and dedication reached far beyond his hometown, leaving an indelible mark on his city, state, and country.
During the challenging times of WWII, Chester stood steadfast, answering the call of duty and serving with honor in the United States Navy. Yet, even as he navigated the challenges of war, his thirst for knowledge never waned. Balancing military life with college, he showcased his unwavering commitment, graduating from NDSU in Ag Soil Sciences
Love found Chester in Joy Steenson Reiten, a fellow navy veteran. Together, they built a life grounded in service and love, enriching the community around them. Chester’s passion for community shone brightly as he revitalized 4-H programs and enhanced rural life in Wells County.
