Arlene Dahl
Scandinavian-American Hall of Fame
1997 Inductee
Legendary Hollywood leading lady Arlene Dahl has assumed many roles in her four-decade career, though not all were on stage or screen.
Often called the most beautiful woman in films, the actress with the “Viking Red” hair (due to Norwegian ancestry, of course!) has starred in 30 motion pictures and 19 stage plays, including the Tony Award-winning Applause on Broadway. Television roles have included a recurring guest role on the popular daytime series, One Life to Live, and Arlene Dahl’s Lovescopes. One of her three children has followed in her career footsteps – well-known actor Lorenzo Lamas.
An influential beauty and fashion consultant, Miss Dahl penned a syndicated advice column for 20 years, and has authored 16 books on beauty, health, and astrology. She started the “Baby Doll” pajama rage in the ’50s, created a complete fashion line for Vogue Patterns, and is now designing a jewelry collection. She is active with many philanthropic groups and serves as International Director for the Pearl S. Buck Foundation for Amerasian Children.
Miss Dahl was born and raised in Minneapolis and during her childhood made regular trips to Minot to visit relatives. She now lives in New York City with her husband, Mark Rosen.
